The inspiration for a new collection or design comes to me in many different ways … through travel, culture, media, and even by studying historical periods. the 60s & 70s are rich sources and, as in this case, the 20s & 30s have provided a spark.
My goal with the spring 2007 collection was to offer a chic, casual look that combined a raw and sensual feel drawing from workwear, uniforms and period lingerie.
While searching for inspiration, i came upon Amelia Earhart, and my heart was sold … i’m always moved by strong women, who dare both to make a difference and be different, despite their times.
Amelia was the first female pilot to cross the atlantic.
